History
The Bo City Council (BCC) serves as the municipal government for Bo City, Sierra Leone’s second-largest city. Established in 2004 under the Sierra Leone Local Government Act and reviewed in 2022. The Council is responsible for the general management and development of the City.
Bo, Sierra Leone’s second-largest city, is making waves across the city due to its revamped waste collection and disposal system. Residents and officials alike are noticing a significant shift in the city’s environmental health and overall cleanliness.
In recent months, the Bo City Council (BCC) has launched a comprehensive solid waste management strategy aimed at addressing indiscriminate dumping, reducing environmental pollution, and improving public hygiene. This initiative, which features expanded waste collection routes, community outreach, and new equipment, is already showing promising results.
